Chaplain - Spiritual Care Coordinator

Position Overview
As a Chaplain at Pallatus Healthcare, you will provide spiritual care and emotional support to hospice patients and their families, regardless of their religious or spiritual background. You'll work alongside our interdisciplinary team to address spiritual distress, facilitate meaningful conversations about life and death, and help patients and families find peace and comfort during their end-of-life journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual assessments and develop individualized spiritual care plans
- Offer pastoral care, prayer, and spiritual counseling to patients and families
- Facilitate conversations about meaning, purpose, forgiveness, and legacy
- Support patients and families through the dying process with presence and compassion
- Coordinate with local clergy and faith communities when requested
- Provide bereavement support and memorial services as needed
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning
- Document spiritual care activities and patient interactions
- Offer support to staff and volunteers dealing with grief and secondary trauma
- Respect and honor diverse religious and spiritual beliefs
- Provide crisis spiritual intervention when needed
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Care, or related field
- Ordination or endorsement by a recognized religious body (or equivalent spiritual authorization)
- Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of pastoral care or chaplaincy experience
- Interfaith competency and respect for diverse spiritual traditions
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Ability to provide non-judgmental spiritual support
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home visits
- Emotional resilience and self-care practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hospice or healthcare chaplaincy experience
- Board certification through professional chaplaincy organizations
- Experience with grief counseling and bereavement support
- Bilingual capabilities (Spanish preferred)
- Knowledge of various world religions and spiritual practices
- Training in trauma-informed care
- Experience facilitating memorial services and rituals
